Explore the Latest Coffee Trends

At Keurig Dr Pepper, we love learning more about what our consumers want from their coffee experience so we can help them brew their perfect cup. In 2017, we launched a national effort to do just that, The Connected Consumption Panel. In 2017, we sent 10,000 voluntary participants free Wi-Fi connected Keurig brewers, gave them access to the unmatched Keurig ecosystem featuring more than 900 coffee brands and varieties and looked to see what and when they brewed.

The connected panel has provided us with a broad view of the American coffee drinker, what type of brew they enjoy, favorite flavors, daily habits, and how these differ regionally across the country. The unique insights we gained have enabled us to get closer to the consumer and make more informed decisions about how we continue to satisfy their evolving needs – from product innovation to marketing.

We’re excited to share some of the key learnings with our larger Keurig community in a report we’re calling The United States of Coffee. The insights we gained along the way from the panel are already helping us improve the overall coffee experience for our consumers:

·         Fueling Flavor Innovation: We’ve learned how flavor preferences vary across the country (like the preference of raspberry, coconut, or glazed donut flavors in the Southeast) so we can stay ahead of new and evolving demand for traditional and non-traditional types.

·         Smarter Marketing: While we confirmed that nearly 80% of all coffee is consumed before noon, we also saw coffee consumption behaviors extend across the entireday vs. just a morning event, which has allowed us to be smarter in how we market occasions and coffee types based on personal preferences and habits.

·         Enhanced Planning: By monitoring spikes in demand at peak times like Christmas, we know how coffee needs ebb and flow throughout the year – allowing us to better manage our supply chain.
