A source of vitamins and minerals, a taste that is a kid-favorite and packaged for on-the-go lifestyle, applesauce continues to dominate within the snacking category – growing nearly 10 percent[1] over the past three years.  With 73% of consumers snacking daily and a portion of those snacking twice a day[2], Mott’s® is making investments in manufacturing, innovation and marketing to capture even more of those snacking occasions, with a focus on the growing pouch format.

Mott’s quality applesauce starts with whole, fresh apples sourced from North American growers. Mott’s primarily sources its apples from multi-generational, family-owned farms in upstate New York, as that region has an ideal climate for producing crisp, flavorful apples. The Company’s Williamson, New York production facility exclusively produces Mott’s applesauce and juice, and recently announced the addition of new production lines dedicated to new pouch packaging innovation, creating 50 new jobs in the community.

Mott’s continues to introduce even more options for today’s wellness-conscious consumers and families that are on the lookout for snacks that check three crucial boxes: ones that are nutritious, delicious and easy to pack. The brand’s classic Mott’s No Sugar Added Applesauce is made with just two ingredients—apples and vitamin C — and has 38% less sugar than the other no sugar added leading brand pouch (that’s 8g of sugar compared to their 13g!).

Recognizing the growing popularity of pouches, Mott’s has launched a crisp new marketing campaign that focuses on digital and social media. Playful characters emphasize the convenience of Mott’s No Sugar Added Applesauce and highlight how the brand perfectly aligns with the back-to-school – and all year round — snacking season.

7Up® Shirley Temple: ‘Newstalgia’ in a Can https://keurigdrpepper.com/7up-shirley-temple-newstalgia-in-a-can/ https://keurigdrpepper.com/7up-shirley-temple-newstalgia-in-a-can/#respond Thu, 03 Oct 2024 14:07:36 +0000 https://keurigdrpepper.com/?p=6577 With the rise in retro brand activations and social-media-fueled flavor experimentation, the opportunity for nostalgic flavors has never been timelier, and consumers, especially millennial and GenZ consumers, are seeking beverages that can deliver a little sip of both. For many, one of the most memorable drinks to order in childhood – and a classic favorite with mocktail enthusiasts – is a Shirley Temple. While the non-alcoholic drink has many variations, its most classic form always included crisp, refreshing bubbles of a non-cola soda and sweet bursts of grenadine syrup (derived from the French word for pomegranate, “grenade”), crowned with a shiny maraschino cherry. For nearly a century, this fizzy, joyful creation has brought smiles to every generation.

Now, 7UP—the original lemon-lime soda—is bringing a ready-to-drink version of the beloved classic beverage to retail shelves nationwide this month, for a limited time only and just in time for the holiday season. 7Up Shirley Temple is crafted by the flavor experts at Keurig Dr Pepper, who created a perfect blend of 7UP’s signature citrusy sparkle highlighted by vibrant notes of pomegranate and cherry.

“Our team loves the challenge of developing and marketing a beverage that evokes a deep sense of nostalgia with a modern twist, and the 7UP Shirley Temple does just that,” said Andrew Springate, Chief Marketing Officer at KDP. “Consumers will be delighted by this sweet reminder of the magic of childhood with a contemporary burst of flavorful refreshment.”

7UP Shirley Temple will be available from Oct. 15 until Dec. 31 at mass and grocery retailers nationwide in the U.S., while supplies last. It will be sold in two-liter bottles and 12 packs of 12-ounce cans. Additionally, a Zero Sugar version of the drink will be available in 12 packs of 12-ounce cans. Whether you’re reconnecting with a familiar favorite or starting a new tradition, the 7UP Shirley Temple promises to bring a little extra sparkle to every glass and every gathering this festive season.

Keurig Dr Pepper Hosts Coffee and Climate Leaders during Climate Week NYC https://keurigdrpepper.com/keurig-dr-pepper-hosts-coffee-and-climate-leaders-during-climate-week-nyc/ https://keurigdrpepper.com/keurig-dr-pepper-hosts-coffee-and-climate-leaders-during-climate-week-nyc/#respond Wed, 25 Sep 2024 21:07:26 +0000 https://keurigdrpepper.com/?p=6562 KDP hosted a panel entitled The Future of Coffee during Climate Week NYC to discuss the critical challenges and opportunities facing coffee and the coffee industry from climate change. Why? Because with rising temperatures and increasing climate concerns, some scientists warn that coffee crops are at risk of disappearing in our lifetime. Not on our watch.

Expert panelists from the coffee industry included Monique Oxender, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at KDP; Dina Esposito, Assistant to the Administrator for the Bureau for Resilience, Environment, and Food Security at USAID; Willy Foote, Founder & CEO of Root Capital; James McLaughlin, Chair of the Board at World Coffee Research and CEO of Intelligentsia Coffee; and moderator Kavita Prakash-Mani, Founder of Dragonfly Advisory.

The discussion centered on how climate change and economic uncertainty for smallholder farmers are impacting coffee, from farm to cup, and how unique, long-term investments, programs and partnerships can help to preserve the future of coffee and drive meaningful impact at scale. Key takeaways included:

  • The importance of maintaining a “farmer-first” approach. Smallholder farmers are the solutions-providers who should be at the forefront of the regenerative future of coffee. Too often, they’re excluded from the conversation and – critically – from the resourcing and financing available for climate adaptation.
  • There is power in convening the right partners over the long-term. We all must identify our unique assets and capabilities and harness the power of collective action – and then remain steadfast and patient in our commitments as the returns can only be delivered over the long term.
  • Innovative financing is an essential enabler of impact. With access to the right capital, technology and data, farmers will be much better equipped to adapt to the changing climate. This offers a pathway towards de-risking the transition to a climate-smart and resilient coffee future for one another and for farmers.
  • Agriculture research is a critical and underfunded solution. Collectively, we are advocating for more funding to research and distribute improved, climate-resilient coffee varietals that can thrive in different geographic regions. This is important because it protects the plant’s biodiversity and generates the unique flavor profiles that consumers want.

Preceding the panel discussion, attendees enjoyed a lively networking session while sipping Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Nantucket Blend® Coffee and Intelligentsia Kenya Konyu AB Coffee.

Keurig Dr Pepper Ireland Facility to Reduce its Carbon Emissions by 100% https://keurigdrpepper.com/keurig-dr-pepper-ireland-facility-to-reduce-its-carbon-emissions-by-100/ https://keurigdrpepper.com/keurig-dr-pepper-ireland-facility-to-reduce-its-carbon-emissions-by-100/#respond Mon, 23 Sep 2024 15:15:56 +0000 https://keurigdrpepper.com/?p=6557 Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) today announced plans to invest €6.44 million ($7.16 million) in its beverage production International Operations hub based in Newbridge, Co. Kildare.  The company will electrify its heat through the installation of the latest technology in heat pumps and implement several energy savings initiatives.

Once construction is complete, the state-of-the-art beverage production facility will be powered with 100% renewable electricity and will minimize overall energy consumption. This will enable the facility to reduce approximately 1,600 metric tons of carbon emissions annually, contributing to KDP’s 2030 climate commitments to obtain 100% of electricity from renewable sources and reduce Scope 1 & 2 emissions by 30%.

This project is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.

Minister for Enterprise Trade & Employment Peter Burke TD said, “The announcement today that Keurig Dr Pepper plans to invest €6.44 million in its Newbridge facility is exceptionally welcome news. The plans, including a state-of-the-art facility powered with 100% renewable electricity and reduced carbon emissions, are very much in line with the Climate Action Plan. Introducing these initiatives will help in meeting our targets and go towards protecting our environmental future, both locally and globally.”

Minister of State for Trade Promotion, Digital and Company Regulation Dara Calleary said, “It has been my pleasure to meet with David Lainchbury and the team at Keurig Dr Pepper in Newbridge and hear about their plans to invest over €6 million in their beverage production International Operations hub. I commend all efforts to reduce carbon emissions and the steps made towards a sustainable future for all. Thanks to Keurig Dr Pepper for both their continued investment in Ireland and championing investments in sustainability.”

Opened in 2022, the Newbridge facility is home to more than 100 employees that manufacture beverage concentrates for some of KDP’s biggest brands including Dr Pepper, Canada Dry, 7UP, Big Red and Sunkist. In 2023, the facility obtained ISO 14001 certification by adhering to the internationally recognized standard for environmental management.

“We are thrilled to make this green capital investment in our International Operations hub,” said David Lainchbury, Chief Procurement Officer & SVP of International Operations at KDP Ireland. “We recognize that we have a key role to play in this local community, and this investment helps us build economic and environmental resilience in Newbridge and beyond.”

IDA CEO Michael Lohan said, “Ireland is delighted to support Keurig Dr Pepper’s sustainable energy journey. This investment aligns with IDA Ireland’s goals and the Irish Government’s White Paper on Enterprise 2022-2030, which prioritizes decarbonization. By removing all fossil fuel use at KDP Ireland’s Kildare site, this project will not only meet but exceed the carbon reduction targets in the National Climate Action Plan. I wish KDP Ireland every success with this groundbreaking initiative.”

Installation of the infrastructure upgrades will begin later in 2024 with a construction period of approximately one year.

“QuickChill” Out with Keurig’s New K-Brew+Chill https://keurigdrpepper.com/quickchill-out-with-keurigs-new-k-brewchill/ https://keurigdrpepper.com/quickchill-out-with-keurigs-new-k-brewchill/#respond Mon, 05 Aug 2024 15:03:28 +0000 https://keurigdrpepper.com/?p=6485

Today, Keurig® unveiled its “coolest” innovation yet aimed at meeting the evolving needs of coffee lovers – the all-new K-Brew+Chill brewer featuring Quick Chill Technology™. The coffee maker delivers the coldest coffee from Keurig to date — 100 degrees cooler than current Brew Over Ice technology. In addition to the cold option, the brewer also delivers a hot cup of coffee using any K-Cup® pod.

Here are five “cool” facts about the development and functionality of the new brewer:

How Cold is Cold

Keurig engaged with thousands of people across the country and gathered their feedback through detailed surveys, conversations and trial.  As part of our research, we visited many coffee shops nationwide and ordered iced coffee without the ice to find out the average temperature. We discovered that around 60 degrees was the perfect threshold to aim for.

The Right Size and Specs

Keurig also explored how long a consumer expected to wait for iced coffee on demand. Our development team ran consumers through experiments with brew times, before uncovering that the sweet spot was three minutes or less. In addition, testers indicated that they wanted the flexibility to brew both hot and cold and they didn’t want multiple products on their countertop – so we needed to deliver a multi-function brewer that could fit into an attractive space footprint while remaining affordable.

Breaking the Ice on a New Project

In early 2023, an internal ‘hackathon’ was conducted in Keurig’s co-headquarters in Burlington, Mass. to solve for a more optimized iced coffee experience from a Keurig brewer that delivered on the insights around temperature, time, and space. A group of Keurig engineers were divided into three teams to brainstorm proposed solutions. Each team created a team name and the winning team’s name was the codename for the internal project – “Cool Beans” – that took the concept to reality.

The Chill Zone

Keurig unlocked a breakthrough innovation with a patent-pending cooling system that uses aluminum coils to transfer fresh brewed hot coffee through a water-based thermoelectric cooled ‘chamber.’ If a user selects the option for a cold coffee, K-Brew+Chill first brews hot through a K-Cup pod. Then the hot coffee travels to the cooler chamber, which flash chills the coffee to a sub-60-degree temperature before dispensing it to the cup.

Cold at Home is Currency…and More

Recent data indicates that 70% of coffee shop purchases are cold and 73% of Gen Z consumers bought cold coffee away from home recently.  By brewing at home, consumers can make up to five iced coffees for the price of one at the coffee shop. Brewing cold at home also isn’t just limited to coffee. Keurig offers a wide range of K-Cup pods that deliver on trends at the coffee shop, including the recently launched The Original Donut Shop ICED Refreshers, a fruit-forward, café-quality blend of refreshing flavors including Pineapple Passionfruit and Strawberry Acai.

The K-Brew+Chill represents a significant leap forward for Keurig, merging innovation with consumer preferences to deliver an unparalleled iced coffee experience. By addressing the demand for a colder beverage and faster brew time while maintaining affordability and versatility, Keurig not only enhances at-home coffee enjoyment but also aligns with evolving trends in the coffee market.

The Story of Kahawa 1893

Growing up on a coffee farm, Nyamumbo observed that women supply 90% of coffee production labor but often see little or no financial gain. She went on to study abroad in the U.S. before starting a career on Wall Street, but never stopped thinking about ways to help the women farmers she grew up with.

Nyamumbo founded Kahawa 1893 to share exquisite African coffee with the world and support women farmers through her tipping and scholarship programs.

The company also partners with co-operatives in Kenya, Rwanda and Congo, from which they source beans used in their blends, to further help those that make the coffee trade possible.
