What inspired you to pursue a career in sales?

I did not know what I wanted to be when I “grew up” and transitioned out of the Army. What did help me and what drew me to sales in Dr Pepper Snapple Group, at the time, was a transition role in an emerging leader program. I did not think I brought value due to my time in the military and my roles there. What I discovered during my time in the program was that I had many skills that centered around leadership, process and teamwork.

Describe your career path. What brought you to your current role?

After my time in the Army, I began my role at KDP and spent two years learning the business before becoming a branch manager in Holland, Michigan. From there, I transitioned to the role of Senior Operations Manager in Northlake, Illinois, and finally into my current role as a Territory Sales Manager in Sherman, Texas.

What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue a career in sales?

Sales is a fun job that enables us to learn a ton about the beverage business, customers and human behaviors. There is not a day that has repeated itself or a time when my job has been boring. The relationships formed with our customers, team wins and growth of my teams keeps me motivated each day.

What do you enjoy most about KDP?

I enjoy the opportunities that have been afforded to me within KDP. I have moved three times with the company and have been able to work with numerous people across our business. With each move, I have expanded my knowledge on different markets, brands and customers, which has developed my business acumen.

How have you developed your career at KDP?

I established a wide network of people whom I can call upon for expertise or advice. This network has helped in my growth and development by having multiple mentors across the business that offer different perspectives. I have also been an avid learner on campus and in our Workday learning platform. I am part of multiple employee resource groups and utilize their presentations, classes and tools to further develop my career at KDP. Outside of KDP I read, stay active and push myself to grow on multiple levels.
